About Ernie

Hello folks, my name is Ernie Tamayo, I’m a HRCI and SHRM certified (PHR & SHRM-CP) HR pro and I am looking forward to sharing my thoughts and perspectives on talent management, to be more specific; HR management from an employee and labor relations perspective. Please note that the thoughts and views expressed on this site are solely my own and do not reflect thoughts and views of any past or present employers, clients, or organizations I have affiliated with.

As a Federal HR practitioner, I have been able to work with some really great organizations and some really great people. In my past and present roles I’ve had the opportunity to directly influence the process of managing employees. My blog is a space where I can share my views on managing an organizations most important resource – their people. I invite everyone who visits to please share their thoughts and best practices in the comments section.

On a more personal note, I’m a New Yorker at heart (born and raised on the Lower East Side), even though I live in Virginia. I’m a former member of SHRM. Although I do recommend for HR pro’s to maintain their membership with SHRM current, I chose to let mine lapse, because a lot of the material from SHRM isn’t necessarily geared to HR in a federal setting. I am also an Army Reservist with a Human Resources Company in Richmond, Virginia…I enjoy playing Army every so often, when I first enlisted, I started out as a grunt (Infantryman). I’m a firm believer in 2nd Amendment rights although I don’t consider myself to be a conservative. Lastly, once in a while I’ll include posts with my two beautiful twins Gabriel and Juliana.

I hope you enjoy the content!

– Ernie
